Notes from Liverpool ...

Here's Kevin's first entry upon arriving in Liverpool. Sounds like he made it just fine and had no trouble finding beer or friends. —————————————————————————————————

The great thing about England is that every place is a pub. No, I don't mean there's a pub every place (although there is), I mean literally every place is a pub. When we got to the train station in Manchester, we saw a guy drinking a can of Grolsch beer. Naturally, we immediately followed suit with a couple of tall cans of Carling. You don't see this kind of thing in America, what with open container laws and such. Beer is just like soda over here, it seems.

Another thing you find more in England — or at least in Liverpool, England — is people buying pints for strangers. Our first night here we spent with a couple of local blokes who bought us round after round of Carlsberg lager. It's not only delicious, it's the official beer of the Liverpool football team.

But the most interesting pint of ale I had yesterday was Cain's Extra Bitter, which is brewed here in the 'Pool. It's a nicely hopped, smooth beer that isn't as bitter as the name suggests. Although my travel mates weren't too keen on it, I quite enjoyed my pint, which was hand-pulled the old-fashioned way.

Until next time, cheers from Liverpool!

love me a pint. Only Red Stripe and Red Stripe Light here in the bay.

Although I did discover Ting, a grapefruit mixer similar to Squirt. Now that's a tasty mixer.
